Last night’s QI reminded me of how much I love the painting “The Sheepfold” by Jean-François Millet. Last night we watched Only Connect and one of the questions had moon phases in paintings.
I really appreciate a nice night sky on paintings, and even more an accurate rendition of the moon in the night sky.
Too much art gets the moon wrong. This, on the other hand, is a perfect rising gibbous moon hung low over the landscape.
Perfect.
