I can’t believe how my stamina and fitness are improving. This little 8 mile ride would have killed me at one point but now I can do it on the DaHon without much concern. I’ve even got myself a new bag for it – it’s meant to go under the saddle on the seat post,Continue reading “A little 8 mile hop.”

A bike!
So I started the week thinking I was getting chunky again. Not quite as bad as before, but the new scales made me realise just how inaccurate the old ones were; and boy were they bad. As a scientist by training it’s always been within my mind that no equipment is good unless it isContinue reading “A bike!”
It’s a far cry from a few years ago.
I’ve just done my health check-up. Blood pressure 113/77, SpO2 99%, Stress in the green. ECG pretty much as expected – no signs of any fibrillation. I know I’m still overweight and I’m taking steps to deal with that. Getting a new set of scales was a big step – I realised my old onesContinue reading “It’s a far cry from a few years ago.”

I’m not sure if this is a lockdown thing, or just because I’ve been so busy, but as someone who doesn’t actually have an exercise regime I think this is pretty bloody good!
Back on the wagon.
After a rather shocking 3.4kg of weight gain over Christmas, I’m back on the wagon to becoming a healthy weight again. Amusingly every time I post a picture in this suitContinue reading “Back on the wagon.”
Hatfield – the third.
Having looked through my photos and my timeline it appears to be the third time we’ve played Hatfield Main club. A leftover from the old Hatfield Main pit and now standing at the edge of a housing estate and with miles and miles of desolation and spoil heaps on the other side. Regardless of locationContinue reading “Hatfield – the third.”
An 80th Birthday
It might seem unusual to have a rock/pop band for an 80th Birthday, but the birthday boy has followed us for a number of years now so it seemed apt. The hotel it was held at was a great place. Top end of Heckmondwike; a place called Healds Hall. It was an early start asContinue reading “An 80th Birthday”
Do I miss meat?
I thought I’d answer some of the commonest questions and statements I get when I tell someone I’m vegetarian and have been over 20 years. I don’t eat meat, meat derivatives, nor do I appreciate cross-contamination of my food with meat and meat “juices”. Gelatine is a big no no, as is Carmine (E120), andContinue reading “Do I miss meat?”
