My new Galaxy Note 9 arrived.
My 18 month Galaxy Note 8 has served me very well and is a device I very much love, but a few features of the Galaxy Note 9 really sold it to me.
- Bigger battery – less battery anxiety.
- Bluetooth stylus – great for selfies
- Dockless DeX – I use DeX loads!
I’ve noticed the bigger battery, although mostly because it takes a hell of a lot longer to charge. As for the DeX – that’s amazing. I’ve already ordered more cables. Actually the biggest annoyance with the DeX docks is actually having to remove your case to dock the phones – a little extra length on the USB C port would have stopped this being a problem.
So far, I love it. It really does feel like the Note 8 perfected.
As for the Galaxy Watch I also got, again, I love it. It’s the same as my old one, but smaller.
It seems to look more like a regular watch on my wrist, unlike the 46mm version which looks too big. This is more like the old Galaxy Gear 2 which I loved so much. The only downside is the battery life is nowhere near as good, but that isn’t helped by this one being 4G, so not only have I taken the battery hit from the smaller battery, but also from the 4G radio.
In other news, Jake got his first PVC jeans after I persuaded him… He’s the type of person who will really carry the look well.
Yet again… ASOS.
Wow, Kiwi Tokoeka, them’s some nice trousers! He wore this outfit on Only Connect on Monday.
I have to say that like Kiwi I’m partial to the metallics. Indeed here’s my current silver outfit…
Trousers – ASOS (ASOS design – now out of stock)
Shirt – Amazon (search Cusfull silver shirt)
T-Shirt – BHS (sadly BHS have now gone)
Boots – River Island
But it’s not the first metallic trousers I’ve ever owned as my photo archive shows; although I’ve got a gold shirt I’ve never owned a pair of gold trousers. Yet.
I always think it’s a bit of a let-down after the high point of Christmas Day. Yesterday, however, I rather enjoyed it – I think because I did things!
Rather than laze around the house all day doing nothing I decided to go to the unit, then walk on to Retail World… Supposedly to avoid the traffic.
That was a silly idea! The traffic was ridiculously quiet. I couldn’t believe there were spaces all through retail world.
So, I bought Hannah some kitchen scales (she sent me… I came back with the most expensive – I always do), and I got myself a genuine Samsung dual wireless charger. After previous cheap chargers and wasting money on ones which wouldn’t charge my watch even though they claimed to be Qi chargers I decided to just get the real deal.
It has to be said my outfit today was pretty outrageous too…
The t-shirt was a present from Hannah. In case you don’t know anything about it, it’s a Jim’ll Paint It of the Chuckle Brothers doing the Hello head in the style of Ghost. It’s a real old mix and match of pop culture references.
The trousers are quite striking too. They’re silver, extremely slim fitting, and I can’t believe I can actually get into them. It is testament to how much weight I’ve lost really!
They’re a 36″ waist, for the record, and the t-shirt is an XL.
Now it’s important not to go back to my old ways this Christmas, and to get plenty of exercise!
I’m working tomorrow. That should help.
Our across the road neighbour came across this morning – it appears he had some sort of bird of prey stuck and tangled in a tree behind his house.
When Hannah and I got over there we found a Harris Hawk, complete with jessies and ring, had become tangled in a hawthorn tree.
We managed to cut some branches around the hawk and rescued it.
The poor thing is now at the vets being cared for and hopefully will be returned to it’s owner at some point in the next few days.
Why don’t itunes allow me to remove the DRM from my existing purchased tracks?
God it’s annoying my tits off now….
Meanwhile, todays’s 365 days picture involved me dragging out the old silver PVC trousers. Now I remember why I don’t wear PVC trousers any more… they’re hot, sweaty, and they get very smelly!
They do look rather cool though, especially when composited into a really superb background in a sorta turn of the last century/Gothic way.
I did a lot of work on this one (and discovered just how much processor time is required to run certain Script-Fu in GIMP) but it was well worth it. I’m really enjoying playing around with the GIMP now.
Rotherham Rocks? – it’s on Friday… and Saturday. I’m sort of looking forward to it, but sort of dreading it in a way. I always get this way though – it’s a big event and a lot of preparation goes into it… this year is no exception.
Should I wear the silver trousers? – no – bollocks to that!
